Activating a product, per se, doesn't particularly concern me - and I
highly doubt it will ever be required for ColdFusion or JRun, as issues
which result from activation or the presence of a Macrovision software
lock program that interfered with server operations would be disastrous
for MM's reputation.

However, there have been myriad issues with SafeCast/C-Dilla that have
been reported for every piece of software they've "protected", from 3DS
Max to TurboTax, not to mention the issues with "protected" CD's and
DVD's that have summarily not worked, or had their picture and/or audio
in certain perfectly legitimate setups.

In fact, when my parents installed last year's TurboTax, Macrovision's
software effectively rendered their CD-R's writing capabilities unusable
even for simply writing backup data to a blank disk. I've seen
Macrovision software wreak havoc on PC's firsthand, and unless there's
been some sort of quantum leap in reliability in what I see as
intrinsically broken software, there's absolutely no reason for me to
ever want to even try out Contribute (or upgrade any current MM software
that will use Macrovision's activation scheme), as I do not want any
machines in my company or for my own use crippled or otherwise impaired
by software that patently assumes I'm a criminal.
