I know that in the past, my boss has written a Flash detector in Flash/HTML.
Basically, if Flash is installed, it goes to one URL (and I suppose could
pass the version). If not, after a few seconds, the META refresh tag takes
it to a page that asks the user to install Flash or whatever.
