I've experimented with 20 (which is what we had on CF5 and until we started having problems), various other settings, settling on 96 (problems diminish - most often it recovers without queuing threads) and as of today in response to a suggestion on this thread to 200 (no real experience yet).

The only relevant setting in cfadmin that I can find is 'number of template files to cache' which we've got set to 400 now (it was set to 200 before I posted here).
