We had a similar problem when we got locked down because of Blaster.
Turns out that we had to create an odbc connection on the cf server that
pointed to the sql server and we had to make sure that the dynamic port was
unchecked.
After that was done, we didn't use the odbc, but it worked properly. It
just had to be there.
Hope this helps. (of course the cf server is on a windows machine, I don't
know how you would do it on other os').
