However, with a select field, you are using your mouse anyways, and it just makes sense not to move back and forth between clicking and typing.
Also, the Enter key on Select boxes already have a function, and that is to select the items on the box. When you highlight an item on the list, you can either press the Enter key, or click the item, and it will be selected.

i have a simple form with a select box , couple of text boxes and a submit button.
when i place my cursor in any text box and press 'Enter' on key board the form is 'Submit'ted.
if i select an option in select box(the select box focussed) and press 'Enter' on key board ....the form is not submitted.
i am wondering why the select object is behaving different than all other form objects.
may be the <select> is not of <input type...?
i am using IE 6.0 AND win XP. i tested in netscape 7.1 also.
any help in this regard is much appreciated.
