CFMAIL has really improved with 6.1 so I don't see why they are saying
they wont support use of the tag. When we have had users with issues
similar to yours, it usually turned out that there were too many people
on the server sending mail. I would take the largest (say a site sending
4,000 emails a day) and ask the webmaster to please set his task to run
during off-peak hours or I would move them to a server with less
activity. Either way, this problem only lasted one day and not one week,
month, whatever.

I have heard of people hosting with CT complain about this for about the
last year or so.

Subject: Re:CFMAIL vs. CDO

Thanks, Mike, for the insight.

I am specifying the the email server within the cfmail tag. I mean,
there's nothing out of the ordinary here. And the key part is that this
application has worked without a single hitch for over a year.

My first instinct has been to just move away from Crystaltech, but I'm
trying to get other people's views before i make a decision. It's the
fair thing to do (for me and for the hosting company).

One important detail: my application allows a user to send a single
sample to an address of his choice before doing the regular broadcast.
This works ok. So, the problems occurs when broadcasting to lists of
about 40+ people. I just ran a test with a test list of 2 subscribers
and it worked.

I don't know exactly what's going on here, but something is not quite
straight. All I know is that everything worked perfectly well before and
now it doesn't, even though I haven't changed anything at all on my end.

Once again, thanks for your help.
