Does anyone have any thoughts on my first questions, which is: Has anyone had any experience good or bad with the UDF ParseURLData found at: http://www.cflib.org/udf.cfm?ID=378 ? I have tested it locally on my XP Pro/CFMX dev box and it seems to work nicely. Peter suggested the sesConverter found at http://www.fusium.com/ which is another possible solution. It is always nice to know the experiences of others using a solution like CFLIB ParseURLData or Fusium sesConverter. I like the UDF ParseURLData, am open to knowing what has worked best for other developers.

I think my seconds question has been well answered, in that SES URLs look nicer, user friendly, and may/may not have search engine benefits unless the site uses query strings deeper than one level. This site I just inherited had multi-level URLs with query strings, and to make it more cryptic, all URLs use the functions: URLEncodedFormat(Encrypt(string, key)) and URLDecode(Decrypt(encrypted_string, key)) which can make a very ugly URL, and one that is not user friendly to enter as shown below:

DisplayItems.cfm?CategoryID=%21%26%20%20%20%0A&SubDepartmentID=%22%27LP%20%0A&DepartmentID=%21%270%20%20%0A

Thank you for comments regarding the benefits of SES URLs!
I appreciate all who have made valuable input!

Thank you,
Stan Winchester
