My large, 100% CF company was bought by a behemoth that's decided the only
approved "enterprise standard" will be WebSphere. I'm in a learn it or lose
it position myself.
Frustrating isn't. at least with .NET you may not be in the position of
seeing project budgets and salaries going down because the technology your
company decided on costs $100,000 to implement.

I only wish my company thought that way. We were a 100% CF shop here until
recently and now I am being forced to learn .NET or lose my job. I will
always use CF for my personal project and for my clients, and I only plan on
using .NET here at my day job.

well, not exactly "love", but anyway.
Compared to most other server side technologies ( asp, php, asp.net ). I can
do most to all what these others can do in less than half the time. This
translates into bigger savings for my boss, which means I get paid more and
he gets paid more.
I've dabbled in these other technologies, but most often than not... I keep
coming back to how easy it is to do things in CF and how convoluted and
messed up DB connections are ( among other things ) with stuff in ( asp.net
especially ).
Given the choice, I ask myself ( as a lead devleoper for my company )... why
should I use anything else when CF seems to be the most efficient use of
development time. Of course I do realize that there is a time and a place
for stuff like (asp.net), but for the small to medium size web applications
net is overkill and burdensome....
CF is slick, fast. There is no need to learn anything else.
Thanks to the former Allaire people and now Macromedia for keeping such an
awesome product going! It's made my career.
