Well, it went really well initially.

I was involved in the Flex beta from early on and beavered away on an RIA
web-based email client (non-refreshing, drag/drop messages to folders etc,
looks great, awesome actually).

Showed the assembled crowd how it was put together (CFMX backend in my
example) and was asked the key question - "How much?".

For my web-mail client - it is not for sale yet as I am wanting IMAP support
in CFML first - as for Flex - a staggering US$12,000.00).

"Oooohhh!" Was the general (censored) sentiment.

"How do I get 'Flex' and can I download a trial?" - Yes you can but at the
same time no you cannot. I had to say "pay up" or order the CD-ROM. You
cannot download it from an easily accessible site just yet (if ever). But
for $15.00 or more Australian dollars you may get it on CD eventually.

And that is pretty much how Macromedia are treating their international
customers at the moment. Pay up or give up.

For now I am putting the code aside.
