"Why is the Flex trial only available on CD?
Flex is an advanced enterprise server product that has
generated massive interest and anticipation across the industry.
Macromedia wants to ensure that early Flex customers get the
support they need to evaluate the product successfully. A
downloadable version of the Flex trial may become available in
the future."
So the reason is that Macromedia wants to make sure that early
evaluators get support. But how is having people paying $8.99
going to help with that?
Am I to understand that Macromedia can provide support for only
$8.99? Or am I to understand that Macromedia wants to limit the
number of frivolous downloads? (If so I am sure it is possible to
find a better wording of that FAQ.) Or is it something entirely
different?

Not applicable in this case, but I find it rather absurd that one
can afford a mini-holiday in the US from the price difference
between the US prices for CF MX Enterprise and the prices in
Macromedia's European shop. (And that is without taxes.)
