>supports Mac OS X.
I run BD on two Macs here and home and I can tell you from personal experience with both the JRun/CFMX for J2EE combination and BlueDragon, BlueDragon is infinitely simpler to get up and running. The installation process is actually a lot slicker than CFMX is on Windows!
If you're interested in running CF apps in a production environment on a Mac I would DEFINITELY recommend BlueDragon. Using a Windows serial number for CFMX may work, but you will get no support from Macromedia since this is not a supported installation (at least as far as I know).
>How would you rate NewAtlanta support compared to Macromedia?
The support from New Atlanta is absolutely top-rate. When I discovered an issue in one of the betas Charlie Arehart (CTO of New Atlanta) emailed me personally, offered to have a technician get on a remote desktop session with me to look into the issue, and even offered to meet with me personally since he happened to be in the Dallas area while this was going on. To me this says that not only do they have fantastic tech support (all the folks on the BD mailing list are top-notch), but that they are very serious about making BD successful.
>Any information that NewAtlanta plans to support CFML/Flash coding ala
>CFMX/Flex?
Depends on exactly what you're talking about here. AFAIK BD does not have Flash Remoting in it, but it definitely supports web services, and some folks (not trying to start rumors here--just saying what I've heard) believe that Flash Remoting will eventually go away because of Flex and the new support for web services in Flash MX 2004 Professional. Just pointing this out as a way of saying Flash Remoting definitely isn't the only way to have your Flash apps talk to a backend. No clue what's up with Flex from the BD perspective, but given the newness and cost of Flex I would think they'd probably have to take a "wait and see" attitude to jumping on that technology. (Not speaking for them--this is just what I'd do in their shoes.)
Hope that helps!
Matt
