Well, I have to agree, (:-))
... but would like to propose separating the tasks of database-driven
list membership and dynamic msg composition, which CF apps provide,
from the task of mail delivery, the latter to be delegated to an old,
low-power PC running (P75 + 32 megs ram) with FreeBSD or Linux plus
a mail server + list server (all free sofware, of course) where CF
could access over a NET USE the *nix disk drive and the list
membership file to write out dynamically a new list membership(s) to
one or more lists. Then CF sends just one msg + attachments to the
list, and the listserver does all the nasty business of list
delivery. CF outsources the mail plumbing to an appliance and sticks
to what it does best.
For NT people who haven't discovered the joys and productivity of
building such opensource "net appliances" , I've have a servcie where
I can setup, in 2 or 3 hours, such an appliance strictly over telnet,
if anybody's interested.
