PostgreSQL comes pre-installed (or easily installed via custom packages)
on many linux distros. Personally, I'd recommend SuSE Linux, as it's
extremely easy to install PostgreSQL (or any other common Linux app) via
YAST2. Yast is a lot like Window's Add/Remove programs, but you can add
a lot more software then just MS software.
We've been using CFMX and BD with PostgreSQL and it's wonderful. Once
you get used to PostgreSQL, it really is a wonderful DB - even though it
does have a somewhat steep learning curve.
