Sorry for the plug but we make a product that can find some of these fake addresses. In addition to doing a syntax check our component will also do a dns check on the domain, and it can also query the mail server (without sending an email). Not all ISP's will allow you to validate an email address on the mail server (they will just respond that it is valid) and some will, such as hotmail.
