Ray,

Just went through installing Apache 2.0 last week.  

You want the MSI install, not the zip file and your MS Installer must
be at least version 2.0.

First off all be sure that you shutdown IIS, the error message
generated is totally cryptic and doesn't point you to the problem.

Someone on the list pointed me to a two part tutorial on the Cybersonic blog
that was extremely helpful.

Basically you will have to edit a file called httpd.conf and if you
will be hosting more than one site on the machine you must pay close
attention to the section "virtual hosting" which is towards the end of
that file.

Apache works quite well, it's just  a bear to get it installed.
