Thanks for your well wishes!
As for your question, perhaps there is more to consider.
IntraLearn is heavily dependent on Microsoft - both as a
channel and as a partner. As a Gold-Level Partner, it
was strategically important that their E-Learning software
gain ".NET Connected" certification.
Given their past investment of over 100 Man Years of CFML,
there were three choices:
1. Do nothing (and diminish the partnership's potential).
2. Rewrite in ASP.NET (a massive and expensive rewrite).
3. Redeploy as a native .NET application via BlueDragon.
Directly answering your question:
>>why are they not using the Microsoft web technologies?
They are - everywhere possible. But with their huge
existing CFML-based infrastructure, a rewrite of large
portions of their application would be incredibly
cost-prohibitive.
BlueDragon gives them the best of both worlds:
- Preservation of Existing Investments in CFML
- Direct Integration with a Strategic Platform
