the way it is (where all e-mails come from an address on our server
with a reply-to header set to the person from whom the e-mail is
supposed to be from).
So, the e-mail would be like this:
From: Bob Smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Apparently the reason for that wasn't to get around relaying, as much
as it was to get around spoofing. One of our client companies had
announced that within 2 weeks, they were not going to accept spoofed
mail. (Their definition of spoofing was where the from address domain
didn't match the domain of the sending mail server).
So, our company (I wasn't here at the time) had to act quickly and
came up with the above solution.
It's obviously not ideal (because the reply-to header isn't always
recognized correctly). We came up with one potential future solution,
where we get a mail account on each client's mail server and send the
mail through their mail server. But, we're not sure if the clients
would go for that.
Is there another way to set up our mail server to get around that?
