I wouldn't recommend them for CF development, but they're great for static
HTML authoring. They allow you to manage HTML files very well, in a pretty
unobtrusive manner - no proprietary format, just HTML comments within your
regular HTML files. They don't tie you to Dreamweaver - you're free to use
whatever editor you like if you're willing to forego the benefits of
templates in the future.
I suspect there are few people on this list who really know what you can do
with Dreamweaver templates, just because we'd typically use CFML
functionality instead. But I have seen some really powerful, well-designed
Dreamweaver templates used to manage static HTML sites quite well. It's also
worth noting that Dreamweaver templates are the foundation underlying
Contribute, too.
