Paul, Sorry to hear that someone took the look'n'feel of one your sites. However, due to the inhereint nature of the web - it would be impossible to secure your site against this - automated or manual "stealing". It is good though that nobody can take your backend code - unless there is a security problem.
I wanted to point out that even if you were to implement a system that checks referers and/or ips against a server memory variable - there could be some new problems. 1. Users that use proxies or anonymous services 2. Search engine bots 3. Users on a large internal network with few public ips 4. Cloaking or spoofing ips or referers Until the web is more secure, all we can do is try our best.
