Please, let's not go through all of this again ...

.NET has lots going for it, it is an impressive platform, and it is
increasing in popularity. We all know that, no news there.

Java/J2EE is less hyped now, primarily because it is older and already saw
its "sexy" period, but it continues to do well (especially with larger
organizations), and powers far more high-end and mission critical apps that
does .NET.

PHP is popular, and will continue to be for some time, especially amongst
smaller shops, contract development firms, and open-source advocates. It has
yet to make significant inroads into corporate development.

ColdFusion is the oldest of the bunch, and continues to sell well (I can't
share numbers, sorry). Rumors of its demise are greatly exaggerated.

There, that sums it all up.

Bottom line, the more you know the more valuable you are. The rest is up to
you.

75 of the top 100 Fortune 500 companies use Coldfusion. .Net is the next
generation of Front Page, why learn code when you can drag it in and have
the program process it....

Like life itself, it all is preference. But what would I know, I am from
New England!
