We run our own DNS servers here at Vivio. As someone else mentioned, they don't need much as far as CPU or Bandwidth - they just process a lot of little requests. A lot like someone hitting a simple html page fairly frequently. Our primary DNS server is an AMD 2000+ with 256 MB RAM, and our secondary (backup) is a P2 450 with 128. We run all our domains off these machines with no problems whatsoever.
We use BIND which is arguably the most stable and popular DNS server out there. HTH, Jordan Katz, Dov B (IT) wrote: >Has anyone run their own DNS server?
