i have no answer...but i'm chiming in because i'd like to hear some solutions :)

we had a similar issue the other day with getting CF to evaluate a
dynamically created var.

eventually we got it, but i'm sure we went the long way around... the
solution included a combination of <cfsavecontent>, DE() (which i
still don't fully get), and evaluate().

if no 'good' solutions come up, i'll find the code we used and post it.
