holy crap thats a first!! haha Personally, I build for firefox and actually there really isn't much else to do for the other "compliant browsers" then I got back and try to add the ie hacks, since really most of the browsers follow the w3c more closely they tend to be cake to code for, it's that damn ie that grrrrr's me!
Really the js should be fairly easy to adjust to work in the diff browsers, just might take a lil bit of extra time but it would be worth it. The webmaster said that you are getting ready to redo the site in a more "search engine" friendly design? Which would make me think he's saying a xhtml & cssp design (along the lines of www.csszengarden.com) in which case you'd definately want to design the site to firefox then mod it from there. I wouldn't say IE is more forgiving it just doesnt follow any standards but there own, which isn't a good thing! It's more like html in itself is a very forgiving language but it's also being depricated and going to xhtml which is not forgiving and IE doesn't support xhtml (imagine that). I would certainly build the new site to follow the strict xhtml guidelines! With it xhtml not being very forgiving that also makes it much faster & smoother to render and also more portable for future design as well as alternitive devices, such as cells, pocket pcs, etc...., not to mention a much cleaner design. Are you in Vegas? Hire me and I'll move there lol :) Actually used to live there, loved it. dave ---------------------------------------- From: "Patrick D. I agree with your philosophy of developing for MSIE last. MSIE is much more, if not TOO forgiving of bad programming styles. Patrick D.
