Imagemagick works great, I recommend it. CFExecute doesn't have any problems that I know about, it works like a dream.
Also alagad & tmt image cfcs are great, also recommended & works natively, which is cool for coding. Imagemagick has the bonus ability to read nearly any image type ever conceived and turn it into any other one.
