I just tried adding the ips and domains to the host file of the server
(after putting the server back on the DMZ) I could get to the sites from the
server its self then, but the CFHTTP error still persisted.

I can live with the server on the local LAN for now but hopefully I'll get
it figured out soon and get it moved back.

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate your efforts.

This is a common DMZ/firewall problem. Within the DMZ, you typically have
internal addresses, but for outsiders reaching your servers within the DMZ,
name resolution points to the public addresses. If you don't have a separate
nameserver within the DMZ just for internal name resolution, you will need
to enter the names in the hosts file on the local machine if you want them
to resolve.
