Personally I always go with space.  The differences between SATA and IDE
(fast IDE, mind) rarely show up in real world situations.

There are situations were you need the fastest possible drive no matter
what, but they're far and few between.

Besides, for the price you could get two IDE drives and a RAID 0/1
controller and stripe them for performance and still pay less than a single
SATA drive for the same size.  ;^)

I've got four 200 Gig IDE drives in a RAID 0+1 array in my work station -
400 Gig of fast redundant storage for less than $0.90 a Gig.  My server has
two 20 Gig and two 80 Gig drives in two mirrored arrays.

The sense of security you get from mirroring (especially after the first
time it saves your ass) can't be overstated.  ;^)
