I finally got my new DELL laptop the other day and it sounds like an
identical spec to yours... The thing with the network card seems to be if
its booted without a cable from batteries, the card is switched off for
power management. I spent 6 hours uninstalling all the junk that shipped on
the DELL and removing all the services that were unnecessary. One of those
services is specifically to power-manage the network card. If you remove it
or just turn it off, the network card never gets switched off....
