Why wouldn't they sponsor it after the deal? I'm not sure if you're aware, but New Atlanta has recently put out ColdFusion for .NET, where Microsoft rightly has a significant interest. You have to remember that Macromedia is not (and has not been for several years now) ColdFusion's sole backer. It makes perfect sense to me that they'd sponsor anything CF.NET-related. It's much easier to code .NET using CF's tag-based syntax than having to get into the details of C#, which opens .NET development up to a much wider developer pool.
