I think what I find odd is the one to one relationships in this type of model.
I'd think that having a cat_id in a product record makes more sense than moving that relationship to a central join table when it's only a one-to-one (as I mentioned in my last mail...duplicating the category relationship for each colour). It also seems less efficient as ALL joins have to go through an extra table...prod to join table to category table. Using a "normal" join to find a prod category would just be a join between product and category table!! but hey...change is good right ;-) Bryan Stevenson B.Comm.
