Yes, you can run K2 on one machine, then connect to it from another. In addition, K2 provides many other capabilities not found within the Verity VDK stuff. If you plan to use K2 extensively, you might look at upgrading to CFMX 7, since it provides a newer and significantly better version of K2. I believe that the newer version may solve some of your problems on Linux too, although I'm not sure about it.
