That's exactly it, Sean.  Originally (two years ago), The Plum Framework was
a simple Zip file you extracted, wired up to ColdFusion Administrator
(mapping, custom tag path, data source), and you were on your way.  We later
added the IDE so that people could generate app code from their database
schema (and tweak and regen) and also have a Wizard to help them step
through the setup process more like a consumer app, but that really makes it
seem like you *must* use the IDE, and that's just not the case.

So we're going to also make the Plum Framework a separate downloadable piece
that people can use without bothering with the IDE at all.  This is all
based on suggestions from the Plum Discussion List, which has really shaped
the product.

It just wouldn't work well as one.  We looked into it early on, and decided
instead to make it a desktop app.
