I know people who use http://www.creative-manager.com/ I have used it in the past as well. Probably overkill for what you need. It has nice reporting though, and a handy way to create budgets, time schedules for clients, etc. Its all web based, and a monthly billing model.
There are some apps made for palm as well, that you can then sync to pc. So you can litterally just click button on palm to start time tracking and thus not have anything open on the desktop. Also good if you charge for meetings, travel, etc. and need something away from desktop. Those apps were from years ago when I was looking into it, so no idea what they are called or if they are still around. But if you have a treo 600 or 650 that would be handy.
