Another one might be a bit more than needed but has been great
For me in tracking time spent and invoicing clients is Proworkflow.

I know people who use http://www.creative-manager.com/ I have used it in
the past as well. Probably overkill for what you need. It has nice
reporting though, and a handy way to create budgets, time schedules for
clients, etc.
Its all web based, and a monthly billing model.

There are some apps made for palm as well, that you can then sync to pc.
So you can litterally just click button on palm to start time tracking
and thus not have anything open on the desktop. Also good if you charge
for meetings, travel, etc. and need something away from desktop. Those
apps were from years ago when I was looking into it, so no idea what
they are called or if they are still around. But if you have a treo 600
or 650 that would be handy.

Subject: Any time and cost recording apps?

I"m getting sick of writing down all my times and activities on a diary.
Is there a half-deceent PC-based app that can do that?

Ideally, what I'd like is to have several jobs open at once, and click
or activate one which will record the time until I activate another (I
normally work on several tasks at once swapping back and forth between
them as the day goes along).

And a way to summarise and report on the time spent per job so at the
end of things I can compare the actual time spent on a job with the wild
guess - ah ... calculated budget - I worked out at the outset.

I work by myself so I dont need networking or time sharing or those
things - just to record my own activities and the time spent on each
activity. Last time I looked at this, I found a product called Time
Trax. Has anyone got anything better?

Cheers
