Hi Kay, No, you can tell HyperTerminal (not terminal services, the two sound alike, I almost wrote terminal services) to listen on a port, in this case you should run it on the port your SQL server is running, then you make a request to it, and you should be able to see if it is able to reach the machine on the port.
I guess we are just trying to see if the port is really open on the machine. And then debug from there.
