Yes, this is exactly what I want to do:
>send mail to specific address
>CF template is invoked upon mail receipt
...WITHOUT using a scheduled task.
If iMS will do it, and iMS is written in Cold Fusion, then there has to
be a mechanism to accomplish this task. Unfortunately there are two big
drawbacks: iMS is quite pricey ($$$) and I'd have to cajole my CF host
ISP into using it. Alternatively I could switch to an ISP who's running
iMS already, if they'd let me access whatever programmatic interface is
needed for the functionality I want.
But I shouldn't really need a specialized email server for just one
piece of functionality. And it might be that iMS accomplishes that feat
by using a scheduled task anyway to check if new email has been
received, which is what I want to avoid. Is that how iMS works, Howie?

If you mean something like:
send mail to specific address
CF template is invoked upon mail receipt
Then the best solution for this is iMS (inFusion Mail Server). Info and
60
day trial are available from www.coolfusion.com/ims.htm
