No, what if I wanted to declare a thread that began with a question as
SOLVED or ANSWERED and decided to place that in the Subject line in a
reply? It would create a new thread. That would totally defeat the
purpose of keeping the threads well managed and organized.

Besides, I can name several "converstations" that began on one thread
and ended up on two ot three, not because it made sense, but because
someone's email client changed the subject line.
