The good thing about CF is that as a J2EE app, code works (for the most part) on Linux and on Windows. The bad thing about this portability is that the same security holes are just as portable; a CF server with JSP enabled and no sandboxing is as bad on Windows as on Linux. The DB may be less of a hassle, but I know zip about MSSQL so I can't say.
