I agree, but my beef with Microsoft is that they have historically built
software that has insecure /features/ not just accidental security
holes.  I think it was just ignorance in a lot of cases, but they do
things like the DB issues originally brought up in this thread.  EVERY
piece of software written, no matter how good the author is, will have
security holes.  But I'd prefer to chose the software written by someone
that has security forefront in their list of goals.  I do think
Microsoft finally has started to do this, but anything older than SQL
Server 2005 and Win2k3 doesn't show that.  Like Dave Watts said earlier,
Microsoft's focus used to be the isolated home/small business users.  It
wasn't until the Internet exploded upon their business that their
methods showed so many weaknesses.  The problem is they continued these
bad methods for many years after the Internet became widespread, but
they have finally started to change.
