Mainly SEO - a big thing these days. Yeah I know Google etc can all spider
this content - it just looks bad etc.  In this case say pageid=3455 = an
About Us section of a website where /aboutus would do.

What is better 

www.awebsite.com/aboutus

or

www.awebsite.com/index.cfm?pageid=3455
