Maybe I'll just continue to run 4.5 on one web server and run the 4.5 sites on that and setup a second server to run CF 7 sites that I build...then I don't have to worry about compatibility...I can do that since I'm not actually "upgrading" at $1300. I might as well buy a full-version...

But there were tons and tons of cfquery tags in sites built pre-MX which cited the "provider" and "providerDSN"... which will actually throw a CF error when run in MX+. Now, I don't remember how many and which attributes were actually valid back in 4.5; it's been WAY too long since I've used it and my 3, 4, 4.5 and 5 printed docs have all been in the bin for years, but I know that there are attributes in commonly used tags like cfquery that will throw errors when run on MX+. Overall Bob, I think you're right in suggesting that none of the changes will be more than minor and nothing will be overly difficult. I just wanted to point out that there will almost certainly be a handful of changes that need to be made in 4.5 apps before they'll run correctly on MX+. ***************** Ken Ferguson 214.636.6126 ***************** Robert Everland III wrote: > As I said, those would require LITTLE coding changes. A var changing to a structure would still be referenced the same way, and CFGrid, ugh, well that's assuming he's using it, it still won't be much to change it. Not like having to change say a cfquery tag throughout the site. > > I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can put an error trapper on your site and just spider the whole thing to see where issues will be. Then have a human test it. Honestly I think you could do it in a couple of weeks if even that long. > > > > Bob > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:243686 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
