Rick, I havent finished reading through this thread, but i suspect most of
your questions will be answered if you follow the step-by-step instructions
for the ACME setup - apache, ColdFusion, MySQL, Eclipse. I suspect you
know what you need to konw about MySQL and Eclipse or not is a different
issue. but the ACME site gives you everything you need to know, and the
really good thing is while the install scripts give you a bazillion and a
quarter questions and possibilities, teh ACME step-by-step lets you skp
over all the thigns you can accept as defaults (which is most things)>

I find with new software, all too often you're asked to choose between
alternatives when you're installing, but given no help as to why you'd
choose one or the other.

I STRONGLY urge you to try this - it'll let you skip over all these server
issues, get the things installed and get to the real issue, which is
tinkering with the new coldfusion. You're setting up a development/test
environment as far as I can see, not a productoin server. If you get
something that's less than optimal it's not a huge deal you're not going to
be having a lot of traffic. What you want now is to get it going and start
playing with it.

Follow the instructions in the ACME guide, and you'll have a good, solid
CFMX7 installation in less than an hour.
