Because they are two different standards (lots of arguing and chest bumping between the backers on each side), you'll need to supply separate feeds if you plan to support both. If you'd like to see a ColdFusion implementation of generating RSS feeds (both RSS version 1 and 2), download Ray Camden's BlogCFC application (http://ray.camdenfamily.com/projects/blogcfc/) and look for the generateRSS() method in the monster blog.cfc template.
