So am I to take it that there is no way to do this ( at least from the
browser and using browser technologies)?

hey Ed,
I think this guy wanted to know if the user had things like MS Project or
Visio on their machines. The HTTP_ACCEPT variable only tells the server
about things that appropriate to browsers, things like Real, Quicktime,
Flash and what not. Yes or no?
