For most databases, the default isolation level is read committed, but I believe that the documentation may be in error on the point you quoted. This came up a while back, according to my somewhat hazy memory, and I thought the documentation was correct, but was told by someone (I forget who) that this was no longer the case. Prior to CFMX, it was in fact the case that the default isolation level of the database would be used. In any case, you should set your isolation level explicitly, I suppose!
