Thanks for the overview, Neil...

I'm thinking about putting Eclipse, MyEclipse, and CFEclipse on my laptop,
which is already running CF 7 and Apache and see how all this works out.
I've been so busy building sites and apps (still in CF 4.5) I haven't had
time
to even tinker with CF 7 and Apache... I do want to find a new development
environment, however.

Eclipse, with its emphasis on JSP and so many other coding languages, etc,
that I have no knowledge of, seems overkill for me. I mean, let's get
real...anybody
that can still happily develop apps in 4.5 might be blown away by something
as extensive as Eclipse! ;o)

Having only looked at MyEclipse briefly...

You have too look at it this way, CFeclipse is just a plugin for Eclipse, it
is not a "Coldfusion" IDE per se, the CFEclipse plugin just provides a way
of editing CFML inside Eclipse.

MyEclipse is a suite of tools built atop of Eclipse - just like Flex
Builder 2 is Eclipse under the hood.

The common part here is the base IDE, it is Eclipse. I haven't tried this,
but there is probably no reason you couldn't dump the CFEclipse plugin into
both the Flex Builder or myEclipse plugins directory and you should be able
to get a cfml editor (note: I have not tried this and you may be able to
code cfml inside Flex Builder 2 already).

You want a WYSIWYG tool, so MyEclipse is probably your only route into using
Eclipse (though there are loads of plugins for Eclipse which could give you
this and the official Web Tools from the Eclipse Foundation may help you
out).

After a look over the site...it's a little confusing...always talking about
JSP, which I don't write...no mention (so far) of Cold Fusion...hmmm...no
screen shots of the visual designer tool (but they have screen shots for the
coding tools...)...don't mind a monthly fee if it keeps me up-to-date with
all the news developments...I pay for my design tools now...DW costs, too...

I think I need an outline of how Eclipse works with MyEclipse which works
for CFEclipse...
Any good, start-to-finish overviews of how all these tools are put together,
what the environment looks like, how it works, etc., out there?

Sounds like a plug-n-play, mix-n-match system for configuring the components
of a software system in to a working development environment...

Am I wrong?

Yeah, that has a WYSIWYG tool, but you have to pay for it - I am also not
sure if you can add CFEclipse to it as the whole app is actually a bundled
eclipse app. I am sure there will be no problems, give it a whirl!

Check out MyEclipse (I think WYSIWYG may be Windows only).

Let us know what you think if you try it out.
