I have used one of his hierachies after a friend turned me on to his
methodology.  I used it to manage a staff hierarchy of employees to
managers.  After the table is created into an aggregate hierarchy, the
search time and features are fantastic.  I can search through parent and
child relationships with very simple queries.

I believe Joe has a google group and has some code or discusses this idea
there as well.

It is an intermediate to advanced topic in DB architecture, but a few days
research and your are done.
