I used CFAJAX for a while but found that it was a little too cumbersome,
with multiple files and multiple setup places.

I then switched to JSMX (single file, much easier to use) www.lalabird.com

Then I found jQuery (www.jquery.com) which has built in AJAX along with it's
Javascript dom interaction and I moved over to that.
