I also prefer to use VMWare Workstation for different platform an CF
    versions, but I think if you know new features that you did not have
    on CF 4.5, you may use CF7 for your dev. environment. But even in
    this case I also recommend to test on a CF 4.5 box before deploying.

    When I have a customer oriented platform I always prefer to have
    same development installation which my customer have. But for a
    product oriented projects, I test also all kind of
    possible alternatives such as BlueDragon or Linux support etc.
