If you don't need SQL Server Enterprise or Standard functionality, SQL Server 2005 Express is free. If you do need the sort of functionality found in Enterprise (as opposed to Standard), a lot of it doesn't exist in MySQL to the best of my knowledge. For the record, I'm not saying there aren't any good reasons to migrate from MS SQL Server to MySQL, just that price isn't necessarily one of them.
