Would have to have a test, but to be honest I haven't "hand coded" a comment
in years... That's what Eclipse is for they make it easy with a click of a
button :)

It makes all the difference actually and would never make it to an HTML
comment. Everything after that "<!---" will be a CF comment and cause the
error since it doesn't have a closing '--->'

All opening tags before the <!--- --> will not have ending tags if they fall
after the malformed comment.
